Building Your TRUST Muscle

Today’s theme is TRUST. In what areas of your life do you need surrender to God and TRUST Him with the outcome? Maybe your job? Finances? Future? Family? Health? Often times, it starts with the trusting Him with the small moments and decisions.

Yet as people who desire control, it can be difficult. Although, I love how Corrie Ten Boom reframes it:

“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future, to a known God.”

Corrie Ten Boom

But, how do we know we can trust God?

Beyond looking at the examples in our personal life and the testimonies of others, I mentioned in the video the first step in SEEKING to lean more about God’s character and faithfulness.

  • God is GOOD.
"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God,
keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations
of those who love him and keep his commandments."
~Deuteronomy 7:9~
"The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness."
~Exodus 34:6~

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future."
~Jeremiah 29:11~
  • He longs to have a personal relationship with each one of us. Even when we mess up, we can go to Him and the Lord forgives us. He casts our sins as far as the east is from the west. Nothing has nor ever will separate us from Christ.
"In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,
neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God
that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
~Romans 8:37-39~
  • This does not mean we will not go through hard times. Because of sin, death and suffering entered this world. Although, the Lord holds the victory and will use even the difficult things we experience for good. No pain we endure is ever wasted.
"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God,
to those who are called according to His purpose."
~Romans 8:28~

"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good
to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."
~Genesis 50:20~
  • We can also TRUST God to walk with us each step of the way.
"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you;
he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
~Deuteronomy 31:8~

"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
    the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord your God.
~Isaiah 43:1-3~

"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me; your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me."
~Psalm 23:4~
  • While trusting is not always easy and may be uncomfortable at times, I promise it is worth it. Especially when it comes to Jesus and knowing this earth is not the end. We can look forward to eternity with Him.
"My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so,
would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you
to be with me that you also may be where I am."
~John 14:2-3

Therefore, again I ask, what is holding you back from surrendering all and TRUSTING Him? Don’t panic and think you have to start with only the BIG areas of your life. Lasting changes often start with the day to day, “small” decisions. So start building your “TRUST” muscle by SEEKING Him.

  1. Trust is so hard for those of us who have found that we could not trust others in our past. I have had to learn to trust God. Today is going to be a HUGE trust God moment for me because I have a 30 min zoom meeting with Redemption Press to discuss me beginning publishing services with them. I have to trust God will provide the finances needed to take this next step in faith of getting my story written and published.
